my story:
Born and raised in Whakatane, New Zealand, my love for the natural environment and fascination with its incredible, ever-changing beauty was developed when growing up with the Pacific Ocean at the bottom of the front paddock. My parents embraced the recording of family life through photographs and home movies with great gusto and as a result, we have a fabulous historical record of our lives. To me, photography was a way to preserve a memory.
I spent 12 years as a Press Photographer back in the days of film, darkrooms, and black and white images. The journey back to photography in this digital world has reignited my passion for capturing moments of beauty to evoke an emotion. I am happiest when I am on, in or near the water. It energises me. I love the way that whether summer or winter, calm or stormy, the ocean is never the same from one day to the next.
I live with a sense of wonder and my work is how I see the world. Every time I'm with my camera in the wild, I arrive curious and leave inspired. Thank you for taking the time to view my images.
